About the evening

Tech and opportunity are heading south, and Houston is ready for it. Southbound is the JetQuest welcome to the city for the start of AfroTech week: a rooftop party and networking night at Reset.

At 7:45 PM we pause for ten minutes. The Southbound Welcome, then Houston Toasts: two or three Houston founders and investors each raise a short toast to why Houston. Speakers to be announced. Then the DJ takes over.

Don't miss the JetQuest Departures Board, our signature photo moment, open from the minute doors open. Doors open at 6 PM on Tuesday, November 3, and the night runs until 11 PM. It's free, by request: space is limited and every guest is approved.

Why you should be in the room

  • Opportunity is moving south

AfroTech has made Houston its home three years running, and the Greater Houston Partnership has signed an agreement with Blavity to grow the city's Black tech community. Southbound is your welcome to the city that's building it.

  • Meet the people building here

Houston founders and investors in one room, on the second night of the week. Not a line at a booth, a real conversation.

  • Hear it from Houston's own

Houston founders and investors each raise a two minute toast to why they build here. Short, honest, and worth being in the room for.

  • A real welcome to Houston

Start your week in the city with a proper Houston welcome: a rooftop, a DJ, your shot at the Departures Board, and the people you'll keep running into all week.
